LifeVision for Personal and Professional Planning
Who Should Take the LifeVision Workshop?LifeVision is designed to support you with facing major life changes, whether it is in your personal life, or your professional career. LifeVision participants have included young people just getting started in the business world, seasoned professionals contemplating career moves, entrepreneurs on the verge of launching a new product or service, working parents and stay-at-home moms taking stock of their lives and re-focusing on their goals for the future. How Does the Program Work? The LifeVision program is a five step process, delivered in a workshop setting or in one-on-one sessions with a counselor or coach. Each LifeVision segment is thoughtfully designed to inspire, stimulate and motivate you. Each are designed to engage multiple senses, so this is not a sit down and listen event. Not only will you engage in silent reflection, creative visualizations and verbal discussions—but you’ll stretch yourself in other creative directions. You will work with your hands to create a visual storyboard of your past accomplishments, your thoughts and feelings about what’s important to you now, catalog your hopes and dreams, and your vision for the future and the steps involved in order to achieve your goals. Colorful markers, pens, stickers, magazines and scissors dot each table. As you might expect, you’ll see flip charts, but don’t be surprised when you open your workbook. There you’ll see large-scale maps ready to be personalized by you. The Power of Visuals
Creating the maps is like taking a metaphorical journey through your life. LifeVision draws metaphors from nature, so the workshop will almost feel like a mental trek across a mountain, and in some places, like climbing a giant sequoia. You will cross personal landscapes and terrains in order to find the right road for your future. Along the way, be prepared for virtual reunions with the influential people in your life, like old teachers, high school football coaches, first loves and your worst boss because they might show up on your Historical Landscape Map! Tour the MapsYou will be introduced to the power of map building at the beginning of the workshop when you create a pictorial storyboard of your life. Any apprehension about your artistic abilities is quickly dissolved when you don’t see blank pages, but rather, a simple graphic landscape on which you will chronicle your life on a number of different planes.
On other maps, you’ll uncover the values that shape your actions and choices in life. Collect images from magazines and create a collage that reflects your values and principles—all to help you reconnect with what drives you. Be prepared to answer some tough questions about what is really important to you – but know it will be fun too. You’ll do purposeful visioning work that will motivate you to focus your real hopes and dreams into a compelling vision – create your own business, land a different job, buy a new house, get a social life, write a book- The workshop wraps-up with the Go Get It Map, a goal-planning process, which helps you outline the steps needed to achieve your goals (aka: your vision). In this module, you’ll have help as you partner with others to develop your project-plan. LifeVision distinguishes itself from other programs by adding this crucial action-planning phase.
